About Us
Scouting America, Green Mountain Council serves youth across Vermont. At its core, our mission is to prepare young people for a lifetime of ethical, moral, and civic leadership. Through partnerships with local communities, the Council also helps youth build practical life skills and follow the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Ultimately, our vision is for every eligible youth in Vermont to become a responsible, engaged citizen and leader.
As part of Scouting America, the Green Mountain Council is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States. Nationwide, Scouting America serves more than 2.4 million youth with support from nearly one million adult volunteers. Since its founding in 1910, the organization has reached more than 110 million Americans. In addition, Scouting America is part of the worldwide Scout Movement.
Through age-appropriate programs, Scouting America helps young people build character, citizenship, self-reliance, personal fitness, and outdoor skills. For example, Cub Scouting serves children in grades K–5, while Scouts BSA serves youth ages 11–17. Additionally, Venturing and Sea Scouting serve young men and women ages 14–20. Beyond local programs, Scouts can enjoy camping, hiking, aquatics, and adventures at Northern Tier, Philmont Scout Ranch, Sea Base, and Summit Bechtel Reserve.

On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Scout Law
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.
