Mobile Archery Range
The Green Mountain Council offers mobile archery ranges for recruitment events, festivals, and other community activities. As a result, units can introduce more families to Scouting while increasing the program’s visibility.
Because archery is one of Scouting’s most popular activities, these inflatable ranges offer an exciting way to engage families. In addition, they use safe, foam-tipped arrows, beginner-friendly bows, and simple accessories. Therefore, participants can enjoy a fun and welcoming introduction to Scouting.
Who Can Reserve the Range?
Scout units/Districts are able to rent the mobile archery units for Scouting recruitment and events.

- Approved Scouting recruitment use: $0
- Approved Scouting Event: $100/Day
Reservation, Training and Staffing Requirements
- Obtain approval from your district executive. List that person as the secondary contact when making your reservation.
- Complete the required Mobile Archery Range training.
- Register for your date and pay for the archery range online
- Pick up and return the range during the times listed on the reservation page.
Pickup, Transportation and Power
- Major Event, Festivals and Fairs – Use the ranges at large events that showcase Scouting and support new member recruitment. To maximize their impact and extend their useful life, do not limit them to individual unit activities.
- Volunteers – At least two volunteers must operate the range at all times. One volunteer must hold current Scouting America Cub Scout Archery Range Officer certification. The CS31 training includes both online and in-person instruction.
- Pick-Up and Return – Pick up and return the ranges at the Waterbury Service Center during regular business hours. Bring a truck, SUV, van, or another vehicle large enough to carry all required equipment. The driver must also load and unload the equipment without relying on staff assistance.
- Electricity – A blower must run continuously to keep the inflatable backdrop upright. We provide a long extension cord. However, you must bring a quiet portable generator when your event location lacks electrical power.
