Green Mountain Council offers Vermont maple syrup as a simple and practical fundraising opportunity for Packs, Troops, and Crews. Through this program, Scout units can raise money for camping trips, equipment, advancement supplies, and other activities. At the same time, customers receive a locally produced Vermont product that connects directly to Scouting.

A Partnership That Supports Scouting

Green Mountain Council partners with Goodrich Maple Farms to produce Mt. Norris Maple Syrup. Through this partnership, the Goodrich family supports Scouting and invests in sap-collection equipment at Mt. Norris Scout Reservation.

Each season, Goodrich Maple Farms collects sap from maple trees on the Mt. Norris property. The farm then transforms the sap into maple syrup and supplies the finished product to Green Mountain Council.

As a result, every bottle reflects Vermont’s maple traditions and the outdoor setting that makes Mt. Norris special. The program also gives Scouts an opportunity to share the story of camp with friends, relatives, and community members.

Raise Money for Your Unit

Green Mountain Council offers reduced pricing when units purchase full cases of Mt. Norris Maple Syrup. Units can then sell the bottles at an approved price and use the proceeds to support their Scouting program.

For example, units may use their earnings to reduce the cost of summer camp, purchase outdoor equipment, fund service projects, or support special trips. Therefore, leaders should begin by setting a clear fundraising goal and deciding how many cases the unit needs to sell.

Maple syrup also gives Scouts a recognizable product that works well for seasonal sales, community events, and holiday gifts. In addition, Scouts can develop communication, teamwork, and goal-setting skills as they participate in the fundraiser.

Before starting the sale, units should create a plan for ordering, distributing, and tracking the syrup. Leaders should also explain the fundraising goal so Scouts and families understand how the proceeds will support the unit.

Individuals can purchase Mt. Norris Maple Syrup directly from the Green Mountain Council Scout Shop. The Council may also offer bottles at Mt. Norris during summer camp.
